Review: Chew: Warrior Chicken Poyo

Poyo the chicken is needed where the world needs saving, whether it’s saving the president or another realm from killer vegetables he will be there. I will say he kicks ass doing it. And Warrior Chicken Poyo reminds you that sometimes you just need a book for pure action sake. ChewWarriorChickenPoyo_CoverPoyo is called  to fight off an army. An army created by the Groceryomancer to take over a magical realm, and if he succeeds with his evil vegetables in this realm he can extend his domination to our realm. A band of warriors have been called to defeat the Groceryomancer and in this band is one such warrior name Poyo.

This book is just pure awesome fun and I loved it. No huge story arc, no altering crossover or huge event, no long heroic monologues. It’s action for action sake that takes you by the seat of your pants and kicks them right off you. It’s a fun title that takes the Chew universe you love and shows our hero in a one shot folklore story.

The art is wonderful and shows action and tells the story very well. The narration doesn’t get in the way either. The colors and perfect and vibrant.

This needs to be the next summer blockbuster movie and I’ll see it twice. Pick this book up for action sake and watch a chicken kick ass.
