Review: Transformers Monstrosity #2

I had a surprisingly good time with issue one.  Two holds out just as well. The Dinobots run from Optimus.  Megatron continues his ordeal on the planet of Junk.  And Scorponok does his best to ensure his control over the Decepticons.

My main grip about this issue wasn’t the overabundance of dialogue and lack of action associated with IDW’s Transformers’ titles.  No, this time the artwork caused me to ponder just what was going on in key panels.  Grimlock has an alt mode that stuns everyone.  It stunned me that I couldn’t see make out what it was because everything was so dark.

As the Autobots research the Dinobots, a team of heroes goes underground.  Wheeljack and Jetfire run into some nasty trouble to conclude the issue.

Maybe it’s the focus on the Dinobots , the inclusion of some great G1 characters, or Flint Dille’s writing that make this book interesting.  Nevertheless, this has been one of the more fun Transformers comics to come from IDW.  While not great, the book is darned good.  Pick this one up, for sure.
