Comic Bastards Uploader Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 11, 2026

This policy describes the private Windows publishing component operated by Dustin Cabeal for Comic Bastards. It covers the uploader's Google connection, local publishing records and publication notifications.

Information accessed

The uploader accesses the connected Google account's email address, source-email metadata such as message identifiers, subjects and labels, and sent-message search results used to prevent duplicate notifications. It also accesses prepared article documents, artwork and file metadata in Google Drive, plus approval, embargo and publication records in the editorial Google Sheet. These permissions are used for the operator's publishing work.

How information is used and shared

The uploader checks publication approval and embargo clearance, verifies article text and artwork, and publishes approved content through Squarespace to Comic Bastards. Approved article text and artwork become public when the article is published. Live links are emailed through Gmail to the operator. Publication and notification identifiers are recorded to prevent duplicates.

The Windows component does not modify or delete incoming Gmail messages or Google Drive source files. It does not sell Google account data, use that data for advertising, or send it to AI services for model training.

Storage and retention

Google authorization credentials, the Squarespace browser session, downloaded article packages and artwork, publication records, verification screenshots and operational logs are stored in the operator's Windows installation. Editorial and publication records are also stored in the configured Google Sheet. Local records remain until the operator removes them; the publication ledger is retained to prevent duplicate publishing. Credentials are not included in public articles or the public uploader information pages.

Control and revocation

The operator can pause the uploader's Windows task and revoke its Google access through the Google account's third-party connections settings. Removing the connection prevents future Google access but does not delete existing local records or already published articles. The operator manages those records and articles separately.
