Aspen Comics has announced they will be including an Age Rating on all direct edition covers published for the retail market beginning this July with Siya Oum’s Lola XOXO (Volume 2) #1 and for all future titles. Aspen President Frank Mastromauro elaborates:
“We’ve listened to plenty of retailer feedback on the topic and took their insight to heart in our decision to initiate a new age rating on all of our future titles and believe this will be able to further help our retailer partners determine the best way to stock and sell our books. With so many different genres in our library, we also felt this is the best way for new readers to make an informed decision on whether the book is a right fit for them or their children, as cultivating new readership is key to the future of our industry.”
The publisher will begin the new age rating system of “All Ages,” “Teen” and “Teen Plus” with July 12th’s Lola XOXO (Volume 2) #1 and continue with all new Aspen Comics titles.
