Best of 2016: Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice
By Dustin Cabeal
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice isn’t on here as a joke. I’m serious about it being one of the best movies of the year, but not for the usual reasons. Not for the reasons you’ll find the other titles on here for. BvS is on here because it did its job.
Here’s the thing. We’ve been talking about this movie for fucking three years. Three years! People are still talking about it. Want proof? Bring it up in the middle of any conversation. If you don’t find that everyone in that conversation has an opinion about it, then you shoot that person because they’re a fucking alien or a liar and both deserve a quick death.
Was the film actually good? No. It was average as fuck, and I do mean average. You can hate it because that’s the cool thing to do, but it’s just an average movie. It’s no different than Marvel movies; they just did their mediocre movie in a way that you haven’t been groomed to enjoy yet. Those first Marvel movies weren’t huge successes either; you were just deprived of comic book movies.
Again, this was one of the best movies of the year. It made a ton of money and people never stopped talking about it. Never. It’s brought up each and every time Justice League or Wonder Woman are mentioned, and so it’s hard to argue that it’s not one of the best when no one can stop talking about it. Isn’t that what everyone in the film industry wants? For people to talk about their movie? Hate to say it, but Zack Snyder did just that so if you don't like it, shut the hell up about it. Until then it's one of the best of the year... that and both their mom's names are Martha.
