You read that right, guys. Yuki Tabata's Black Clover will be getting it's long awaited anime series. Now, if you're curious, I wrote a review for the first volume of the manga and you can check it out here. I've had volume 2 in my possession for quite some time now, but just never really felt motivated to review it. If you really want to know, it's 4 out of 5: It got progressively better and I really liked where the story was going.
At any rate, I am excited for this and I know that Bastard Alumn Austin (shoutout to him for really bringing this series into light) is just as stoked. Sure it's been called a Naruto rip-off, but I didn't get a sense of that at all after reading the second volume. All these shonen titles are generic and follow the same pattern closely, so of course it will seem like a knock off of something popular. If anything, I think it's more along the lines of Fairy Tail, but whatever. That's neither here nor there.
The only questionable issue is the studio handling the series. Studio Pierrot has two GIANT shonen titles under their belt with Naruto and Bleach. After reading around, a lot people are skeptic about their involvement. Personally, and given the great reception both those titles have received in anime form, I'm not too worried. We shall see, though.
2017 is looking to be a hell of a year for new titles and anticipated sequels and I simply cannot wait!
