Dragon Ball Super E. 119

By Erika Suarez

This week’s Dragon Ball Super felt like I watched a 10-minute episode rather than a 25-minute episode. I was pleased to see Universe 4 reveal their three warriors that were mysteriously unnoticed throughout the tournament. Sadly, the excitement for this reveal faded away when the warriors were put into action and made the battles look effortless and incredibly quick for their opponents.

Gohan and Piccolo make an appearance once again when they battle against the invisible warrior from Universe 4. At some point I believed Quitela's sly schemes would actually succeed by leaving his best for last, but that quickly changes when Gohan figures out a way to defeat the invisible foe. Gohan takes the win by using his intelligence in this battle rather than his fists and we get flashy attacks from Piccolo like the Hyper Explosive Demon Wave that is recognized from the Dragon Ball series. I’m glad Universe 7’s two warriors got the appreciation they deserved because they are a great support to the team and have come a long way in the tournament

Quitela brings out his second Fighter that can create solid illusions much like the ones we saw in the “Forest of Terror” episode with Fortuneteller Baba. This battle didn’t last very long which gave no chance for the warrior to show his potential and quickly transitioned to the next. Piccolo takes on the next opponent that appeared invisible, but surprisingly turned out to be a small insect which made it difficult to hit without killing. All of that confidence that Piccolo built made him too focused on the energy of his opponent and caused him to go out of bounds. Android 17 and Goku jump in to fight the insect warrior and easily defeat it while making Piccolo look bad.

Universe 4’s God of Destruction shows his true colors before his universe gets erased and becomes vulnerable and desperate enough to go against Zen-Oh, which is something that would have been interesting to watch even for one that is curious to see what kind of power the God holds. Universe 4 left with an unpleasant goodbye with some unmemorable battles. On the bright side, we see Vegeta very infuriated, battling against Katoplesa from Universe 3 and comically interrupts him in mid transformation and overpowers his “Final Mission” with Final Flash.

Episode 119 delivers us with battles that didn't feel impactful for its foes and leaving them in the dirt. We also witness the erasure of Universe 4 that was inevitable. What keeps this episode standing is the flamboyant attacks and interesting tactics used in everyone's battle, keeping the show enjoyable. Three Universes remain in the tournament and leaving them with very little time. We hope for a meaningful story in the next episode.
