Live Action Tokyo Ghoul Reveals First Image

By Dustin Cabeal

I have seen cosplay masks way better than that mask. Hell, I’ve seen bad cosplay better than that mask. Double hell, I have seen masks for sale that are better than the one shown on that poster. All of this is to say that I’m not very excited about Tokyo Ghoul getting a live action adaptation.

Initially, I spotted this image on SGCafe, and it did little to excite me. If you listened to the last episode of Super S (which you can do right here on the site), then you know that we ended up having a pretty lengthy conversation about the anime series. This turned into a conversation about the differences between the anime and the manga which I have been recently reviewing as well (latest review here).

There’s a lot of potential for Tokyo Ghoul on the big screen, but I do not see it here. I’ll never understand how Japan’s movie industry can completely miss the mark when anime and manga are so brilliant at storytelling and visuals. But hey, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see… maybe we’ll get lucky, and it’ll be good, or maybe we’ll just have to wait for that JoJo live action movie instead.
