My Pull List For 9/11/13 - Kevin Reilly
Written by: Kevin Reilly Aaaand we’re back! Another week, friends, another enormous stack of comic books to read through and complain about into the ether, listening close as our shouts of rage bounce back through the lonely cave that is the internet. You’ll read more than you’ll ever want to read about Batman #23.2 and pretty much every other DC book later this week in my new Forever Evil column. But for now, everything else...
THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF PHYSICS #3
God, I hate the new name of this book. You’ve probably heard about it as Collider, which was a fantastic name that pretty much explained the whole deal in a clever way. However we can’t have nice things, so here we are. The book’s been solid in its infancy I hope it explodes, along with all of the other Vertigo books, in the post-Sandman: Overture world.
AVENGERS #19
Infinity continues! I’m not quite sure you guys know this yet, but I am kind of crazy about this book. For the last nine months or so, Avengers has been a really refreshing read especially in comparison to Brian Bendis’ more dramatic, character-focused work. I really liked Bendis’ run, even up to the end. but this is what the Avengers should be in a post-Marvel’s The Avengers world. Yes, that’s the real title of the movie. In any case, Hickman’s amazing, his Avengers is amazing, etc, etc, etc. This isn’t news for you people, right?
CAPTAIN AMERICA #11
Rick Remender’s Cap run has been harkening back to Jack Kirby’s Bronze-age adventures, and now that his first year’s Dimension Z story is out-of-the-way, Steve returns to the present in what can only be a super-weird read. Anybody who’s read books like Fear Agent know what they’re getting into here, and it’s super exciting.
THE UNCANNY X-MEN BY CHRIS CLAREMONT AND JOHN BYRNE VOL. 1
I’m not a hundred percent sure if this counts, and I won’t even be getting it until next week (thanks, Amazon!) but the first Uncanny X-Men omnibus is getting a reprint ahead of the April release of Volume 2. If my John Byrne F4 and X-Statix books are any indication, this is going to be a handsome volume for anybody who is a fan of the source material.
