Ominous Press To Publish Legendary Series

By Dustin Cabeal

I'll admit that I know jack about Ominous Press. I never read it in the 90s, but now that they're back I recognize a lot of the art and such from Wizard Magazine. I'm curious about this series in particular because I've never read it. We'll see how it goes!

Press Release

When the original Ominous Press debuted to acclaim in 1994, it began with a series of epic stories of powerful heroes and insidious villains. Now those stories are returning in updated editions as part of the four-issue "Legendary" series from the resurrected Ominous Press. Far more than simple reprints, these updated editions offer new story pages and bonus material. Each of the four "Legendary" issues is 48 pages, with issues #1 and #2 already available for purchase.

"Legendary #1: Infinity" includes the original "Infinity" story written and drawn by Bart Sears, as well as the complete Monument Set of character tablets that introduced many of the Ominous characters. The issue also features a new framing sequence by writer Ron Marz and artist Tom Raney, giving context to the original material. The framing sequence will continue in all four issues.

"Legendary #1: Infinity" is wrapped in a choice of two covers by Bart Sears, a standard cover featuring his trademark Brute and Babe characters, and a variant cover featuring Arkon the Giantkiller.

"We felt like these stories are unfinished business for Ominous. We started them, but we never got to pay them off properly," said Bart Sears, Chief Creative Officer for Ominous. "Now we're getting a chance to present them again, along with new pages, and give them the ending they deserve."

"Legendary #2: It Begins" includes the new framing pages by Marz and Raney, "It Begins" written and drawn by Sears, and "Judgment," a story starring the god-like Pheros and featuring new and never-before-seen pages written and drawn by Sears, with inks by Andy Smith.

"Legendary #2: It Begins" sports a standard cover by Bart Sears, and a variant cover by Tom Raney featuring Lord Zeus.

Both "Legendary" #1 and #2 are available now via the Ominous Press website http://www.ominouspress.com/infinity.  Standard versions are $4.99, and variant cover versions are $9.99. Signed editions are also available.

"Legendary #3: Mael's Rage" will be available later in November.

Ominous will debut three all-new series in 2017: "Giantkillers," written and drawn by Bart Sears; "Prometheus," written by Ron Marz and drawn by Tom Raney; and "Demi-God," written by Ron Marz and drawn by Andy Smith.
