Only 3 Days Left to Support The Iron King on IndieGoGo

Only 3 days left for the Indiegogo campaign of the best-selling young adult novel “The Iron King”. The campaign is to produce the bestselling novel into a comic book series. Just $2,000 short of the goal, Bluewater is asking for the support of the novel fans as well as comic book readers.  Now just released is the cover to issue #3 by artist Lidia Chan.

Not only will the 4-issue mini series be available this summer, but a motion comic book version will also be available. To view a sample of the motion comic book cover by Piglion Studios click here: http://youtu.be/v4qzzhvVGlk

Bluewater wants to have this book be a success with the traditional comic book fan. They are trying to hit a new demographic with this comic book series focusing on the reluctant reader as well as the female fan base.

"The goal is to get people reading…simple.  I was a reluctant reader growing up and comic books helped my reading skills.  Comic books are not only for pop culture fun, but can be used as a tool to get people reading,” said Bluewater publisher Darren G. Davis.

“Tying this novel into a comic book series, will also drive new readers into the comic book world”. Davis continued.

Julie Kagawa, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Iron Fey and Blood of Eden series of books for young adults, to “My fans know that I am a huge comic, manga, and anime enthusiast, and I write in a very cinematic and visual manner in part due to my love of this medium”.   Julie’s new title “The Eternity Cure” hits bookstores on April 30th.

The 4-issue “The Iron King” comic book series features the art of Lidia Chan, written by Julie Kagawa and Sara Gun dell.

The Iron King is a young adult novel that was on the best-seller lists for the New York Times and USA Today while getting amazing reviews. The Iron King is the first book in the Iron Fey series, and follows the adventures of a girl named Meghan Chase. On her sixteenth birthday, Meghan discovers her little brother has been kidnapped by a faery race known as "the Fey" and even worse, replaced with an evil changeling and taken into the "Never." Meghan bravely ventures into the faery realm to rescue him, and that's where an epic plot unfolds.

Bluewater is using Indiegogo to crowd source $10,000 to attract the top talent necessary to produce four such a high-quality comic and graphic novel series.

Fans can support this project at levels ranging from $1 to $250. Prizes range from advance special edition comics, t-shirts, to mini clay “Chili” sculptures handmade by Kagawa, to custom characterizations as comic cameos, and more.

For this week those who join the campaign for at least $1.00 will get a FREE digital download of issue #1 of the animated comic book app.  The campaign ends on May 4th.  We still need to raise about $2,000 and still need the public’s help!

Bluewater has previously worked with bestselling novelists such as John Saul, SE Hinton, William F. Nolan and William Shatner to develop novel-based comic book series.
