Review: Adventure Time # 31

Adventure Time #31 opens up to a fun-filled day with PB and Marceline and you're like "oh wow so much friendship and puns." Then we cut to a scene with Finn and Jake's which is also full of friendship and silly antics. And again you’re just hit with all this warm goofy feelings but Adventure Time has a funny habit of simultaneously ripping out your heart. Ya know, you get all connected to the characters and you don’t want anything bad to happen to them but then Ryan North drops a stink bomb of emotional junk. Okay, okay, you probably have no idea what I’m talking about but you will, oh you will. Once you read issue #31, you will feel what I feel. AdvTime31-COVER-AIssue 31 is starting us on a new adventure and I think this arc will be similar to the more recent seasons of Adventure Time on TV. The TV series has a bit of a darker feel to it and this issue concludes will that same vibe. Anyways let me actually tell you what happens. PB and Marceline are getting their drivers licenses together, even though I’ve never seen either one them drive before. Finn and Jake are about to chomp down on an “everything burrito,” and there’s this mysterious little dude that is hogging up the spotlight. Mysterious little dude ends up being a pretty big jerk, I mean not jerky than the Lich but way more jerky than Magic Man. I don’t want to give too many hints on how the issue concludes but seriously guys it’s a must read. Prepare yourself though for an amazing cliffhanger!!

I loved the humor in this issue, sometimes things can a little weak but this month definitely pulled through. It was a perfect blend of nonsense and wit. I think this arc will make for a very interesting adventure. Also I just love PB and Marceline comics and I know they have gotten a lot of page time with the Scream Queens comic but I like when there is undertones of romance for the fandom to obsess over. Oh and I am so in love with the cover this month. Adventure Time has some pretty sweet cover variants so I’m not surprised how much I love this month’s. It takes a lot talent to be able to create details of a nonexistent world and make it feel like home. Kudos Shelli Paroline and Braden Lamb!
