Review: Batman #15

By Daniel Vlasaty

Batman is supposed to be transporting Selina Kyle to Blackgate Penitentiary to serve out her sentence of life without parole for the murder of 237 people, but instead they are having sex on a random Gotham rooftop.

After they are finished with their deed, they spend some time reminiscing about the first time they met. Where they were, who was in disguise, blah blah blah, and then Catwoman does what Catwoman does and she runs.

This issue is Batman trying to find her, trying to help her, trying to clear her name. Basically, this issue is also Batman doing what Batman does.

While I don’t think this was a bad issue, I don’t think it was that good of an issue either. Nothing happened, really. We learned some things, maybe, but I think it was more Batman thinking with his dick instead of his mind, which is kind of a cool concept to think about. Imagine Batman saying “Fuck crime fighting,” for one night and instead, going on the prowl to get laid. We know that Bruce Wayne is a total ladies’ man but this is the first time it’s ever gotten in the way of his Batman-ing. But I digress.

Back to issue #15.

Tom King’s writing is okay. That’s all I can say about it. I’ve never been super thrilled or blown away by anything I’ve read of his and this issue felt like a lot of filler for maybe three or four pages of actual story.

And for the art: I’m not familiar with Mitch Gerads. But the art was more bad than good. It was inconsistent at best.

I didn’t hate this issue. Like I said, there were maybe three to four pages of actual story here and those were decent, but overall, this issue missed the mark for me.

Score: 2/5
