Bob’s Burgers continues to be an incredibly fun comic. #5 features a zombie story, a boy band, and robot college. Honestly, what’s not to love? Tina’s “friend fiction” is the story of the last girl alive in a world where everyone is either dead or a zombie. Until, naturally, she discovers Jimmy Jr.; he’s still alive, still bootylicious. Together, Tina and Jimmy Jr. realize the zombies aren’t trying to eat them, like we would expect, but really just want a cool place to chill. Tina’s apartment happens to be that place. It’s a happy ending.

Louise’s story involves a boy band conspiracy theory. Louise absolutely does not have a crush on a boy. Absolutely not.

Gene’s story is about robot college. He teaches the robot nerds that it’s okay to be yourself and accept yourself as you are, and that hiding or being ashamed is totally uncool. The robots learn a valuable lesson, and when Gene reveals that he was human- not a robot!- the whole time, they are quite accepting. It’s a touching story. It ends with farts.

Bob brainstorms “book burgers,” and Linda contemplates a parallel universe.

Bob’s Burgers is really just a fun, easy read. It follows the spirit of the show, and captures the big, quirky personalities of the characters. I maintain that this comic would be better appreciated by the show’s audience. Though non-viewers might find it amusing, reading Tina’s friend fiction wouldn’t be the same without keeping her distinct voice in mind, or without having knowledge of her butt fixation or Jimmy Jr.’s dance moves.

The writers keep the humor perfectly in line with the show, and each character’s piece is true to their respective voice. Overall, Bob’s is a light but hilarious comic. For those who watch the show, I continue to recommend this comic. For those who don’t watch it, I recommend starting the show, then picking up this comic for the hell of it.
