Review: Borderlands #8

I actually didn't hate this one. Over the last few issues I was really harsh on this series, due mainly to the fact that it is not as good as the game. The artwork has been sketchy and didn't feel like the same place. The story has been following the game so closely; it just didn't give you much. BorderlandsTV08-coverThis issue, while not a series-saver, was entertaining. The story is a little jerky, but the main action is easily followed. The humor is more palatable this time, most of the jokes actually land. It captures a sprinkling of the magic from the game and that's nice.

The artwork is a mixed bag. Some pages are actually really nice, the coloring and shading looks great. Others however revert to the previous style, Tannis's head changes shape throughout the book, which feels a bit strange.

This book is a strange one, I don't like it, but I keep coming back for it. There's something magnetic about the Borderlands franchise. I hope that they can push through the game story and tell their own soon, until then I'm gonna try and stay away from it.

Score: 3/5
