Review: Capture Creatures #3

I picked up Capture Creatures #3 because I wanted something cute and the title screamed cute. I was not disappointed, this comic is adora-bubble. All of the creatures are well drawn and beautifully colored. No surprise (I kind of guessed again from the title) that it's very similar to Pokémon. Capture-Creatures-#3Everything is super cute, especially when a miniature deer with candles for antlers shows up and one of the characters exclaims in multicolored-cloud-cake writing CUUUUTE. I agree this whole issue oozes with it (ooze isn't a very good way to describe cute (how many more times can I say cute in this review?)).

The characters are all realized well and considering the style it's nice that they all feel the same panel to panel. One character has a rectangular head, that could be a recipe for a character whose head morphs during the story, but doesn't.

The story is very simple can be broken into three parts easily. There's no misdirection or layering in things for later. It's a straight forward story, point one to two then three. The end introduces a new character and we'll have to wait for next issue to find out who it is and what they want.

A simple read with cute characters. It succeeds on everything that it sets out to do.

Score: 3/5
