Right up until the end Simon Spurrier has little nuggets of truth and wisdom for you. This story had many layers, but the one it leaves you on with this issue is that the Gods in this story were never just religious Gods, but instead the things that people worship, celebrities, comics, movies, phones, hell relationships. It’s Spurrier holding up the mirror and saying, “This is how we act, but maybe we can do better.”

His ending is absolutely perfect. I won’t spoil it for you or steal a line from it even though I desperately want to, but it is ideal for the story. There’s nothing else to say about the story. It’s the final issue, and you should just read it.

While Ennay and Bob have the most page time, each character has a little bit of a conclusion. Just a taste to leave you satisfied, It is some of Spurrier’s best writing. I will forever think of Godshaper when his name is mentioned. What’s even more amazing is that around issue four I wanted so much more of this world, but Spurrier found a way to change my mind. I leave this series happy with the way it ended and never wanting the creators to go back to it.

Of course, the breakout star has been Jonas Goonface because fucking hell has he broken out. I could be wrong, but I think he brought out a lot from Spurrier that other artists haven’t been able to do. Goonface’s art has been consistent, beautiful, vibrant and just absorbs you into the story. Every range of emotion is covered in this final chapter and the art nails each and every one of them. I can’t say enough how magical the artwork is and hopefully, we’ll see a lot more for Goonface, but more like this with an amazing story to compliment his talent.

Usually, I ramble on and one about Godshaper, but it’s over. There’s nothing else I need to say. If you’re waiting for the trade, that’s fine at this point, but you better support the hell out of it. You better encourage other trade waiters to pick it up because when they do, it’s going to blow their minds. This is above and beyond one of it not the best book of the year. Some stories leave you feeling sad that they’re over, you’re going to miss the characters and the world so much you could cry. Usually, that’s the sign of a terrific story, but with Spurrier and Goonface have done here is found a way to leave the reader happy. I was so amazingly happy when I read the end of this that I could think of nothing else to say, but thank you.
