Every month there is always that one comic that we wait anxiously for and for me that is Lumberjanes. If there is a fan club out there for it, I want to be a part of it. I just want to have an amazing summer camp experience with five friends while simultaneously discovering crazy supernatural junk. I get all these warm and “maybe I should call my best friend” feelings whenever I read it. I feel like I have cartoon hearts bulging out my eyes whenever I see that it is coming in that week. Okay, okay, I’ll stop gushing about how much I love Lumberjanes and I’ll get on with what actually happened this issue. So if you remember issue two concluded with the gang taking cover in a cave and finding it a little ominous. You know, like when you walk into a creepy gas station at night and it just feels off. But what the heck, the girls go deeper into the cave to until some statue dude wants to arm wrestle. April takes him on even after he insults her small stature and she totally just crushes him. Short girls everywhere rejoice in solidarity! This allows them to go even further into the cave so that they may find a safe passage out. The girls have to work together in the challenges they face in order to escape the darkness of the cave. Dun, Dun, DUUN! But don’t worry they make it out alive with very minor injuries.
I have no complaints about this issue, except that it felt too short. I guess time flies when you’re pretending to be a comic book character. I think that Lumberjanes is appropriate for all ages and is honestly fun to read. Again, April needs special mention for this issue this was her time to shine. I loved her overly excited look as she takes in all the wonders and dangers of the cave. Props to Brooke Allen for perfectly capturing April’s emotions.
