Masks 2 is the follow up to the original Masks mini-series (which I didn't read). This mini-series is expected to expand the universe from the first and be a good jumping on point for new readers (which it is). I didn't know anything about Masks, so Masks 2 was an interesting read. The general premise is that masked vigilantes (hence the name) all band together. Full disclosure the only vigilantes I knew in this book were the Green Hornet and Kato. But I guess that’s true for most readers as they put them front and center of the cover.

Most of this book happens at night, what with them being masked vigilantes, so the color palette is quite dark. The character designs are pretty cool, there’s one-page with loads of masked characters, of which I could only pick out the Green Hornet and Kato plus the few I was just introduced to. I like the Green Hornets full face mask. The book looks good.

The plot is a bit strange, I'm down with masked vigilantism and stopping corrupt officials. At one point in this story though, a guy is introduced as being able to go through space and time because he meditated a lot. Seems like a weak justification for a plot device if you ask me. But whatever, let that slide, and you've got a comic full of interesting characters and villains.
