Review: Quantum and Woody Must Die #3
I really want to like this book, but Quantum and Woody Must Die disappoints me for the second issue in a row. I’ve been seeing a lot of praise for this book from other reviewers and I can understand why if you like the humor. For me, it’s very hokey and I didn’t laugh once throughout my read-through. I remember enjoying the first issue’s humor, but the past two have made me really annoyed with Quantum and Woody as characters. I feel like it’s trying too hard to be funny at some points and just falls flat.
An example would be when Woody subtly hints that he watches porn and it’s similar to seeing childbirth because in this issue Quantum and Woody are tricked into believing that their dad is having a goat baby. It just doesn’t really make any sense and feels like it was just thrown in because it was sexual and might get a cheap laugh. I was also annoyed at the amount they curse but it’s all censored and they use emojis for whatever reason. So when someone says “shit” it’s a bunch of smiley face turds.
Story-wise, Quantum and Woody are facing trouble this issue as the odds are stacking up against them. It finally starts to feel like they could actually die, which at this point I just wish they would. This time, as you could tell by the cover, animals are used against them and so is Terminal, the man who Quantum and Woody almost killed in the first issue. The action at the end with the animals was great and the art is great, but other than that there was much to be desired in my opinion.
Score: 2/5
