Review: Robyn Hood #7

Ok so I am in love with Roberta Ingranata. Just seeing a small preview of this issue made me excited. Her art is fun. Not as stiff as Robyn Hood has been. Although I didn’t mind it, I love Ingranata’s. It flows with the comic. Each panel, especially the action scenes, move better. Robyn Hood has always had a lot of layering of panels to tell her narration. Ingranata would put some the surrounding scenes within the splash page. She used the crowd’s faces or even movements that Robyn was making. It was awesome to see this all play out. To say again, because I can’t say it enough, the action flowed together. I also thought the character’s faces were softer. Now Robyn would probably put an arrow in my head if I said her name and soft together, but it is true. I think each character looked more real and gave them a human quality that I wish the comic would keep. The switch up was nice, and I hope Ingranata can stay for a little longer. RH_Ongoing_07 Cover DAs for the story, it had less action than the last issue so I really think the art will shine next week. But Robyn still had a lot going on. She gets a new case and just like all her cases she end up in a lot of trouble. Marian skipped this stake out to be with her roller derby girls. Marian’s story is more about her discovery in a new city. So I get the comic spending time with her in normal New York moments while Robyn is always saving the day. Plus Marian really needs to learn her magic again. I think she will be of more use when she can help Robyn more with her magic. On a side note, Robyn pushes Marian to ask one of her roller derby girls out, and it made me so sad. I know Robyn has lots of issues she needs to work out emotionally but come on girl. It is so obvious that you want Marian. Don’t let her go. Ok now that I got that out, I feel better.

Moving on to the story, Pat Shand is spending some time developing our latest villain. And I love it. It seems that Shand is getting into the flow of all his characters. The readers know who these girls are and now it is just time to show some awesome stories and let the characters develop with ease. Shand puts me at ease because he knows what his fans want and he gives it to them. I have no doubts when I read this comic and neither should you.
