Review by: Kevin Reilly If you’ve been reading the site for any amount of time, then you know that I’m crazy about any comic book with the name “Star Wars”- so long as it’s directly about a movie I’ve seen, once. When they announced that there was going to be a Star Wars book that was directly falling out from A New Hope, I was absolutely over the moon.

The book does not disappoint for a second. Wood continues the stories with an edge that can only be brought by a writer with a deep passion for the original films. Everybody you know and love are here, and are spectacular.

It’s also quite pretty. The art team of D’anda, Odagawa, and Eltaeb don’t necessarily rely on likenesses of the actors that they’re portraying, bringing their own unique versions of Luke, Han, Leia and company to an already original story. It gives what would otherwise be read as a strange film-tie in an original feel in the best possible way.

But I’ve already poured my heart out in regards to the content in this book in several hundred thousand different places. The trade dress, though, is brand-new. Every month, the book feels like a new chapter of an old serial- just like the ones Lucas saw which inspired him to make Star Wars happen in the first place. However, because the first six issues are collected here, the whole thing looks and feels like a Star Wars film. The copyright information/title pages are a field of stars, and turning the page reminds one of the way in which the Star Wars logo smacks you in the face.

If you haven’t been reading this excellent book and have seen the old Star Wars flicks at least once, now’s your time to climb aboard. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
