Review: The Big Con Job #2
With this being the second of only four issues, I expected the heist to be well past the planning stages and maybe even starting it. Unfortunately this issues spends most of its time introducing two more characters into the mix, ending finally with everyone deciding they will do the heist. Poach our gangs leader (as he seems to have appointed himself) decides that they will need two more people to join them. But hang on it's not his plan so how does he know how many people they will need? Did he speak to Tony or does he have something else planned? That part felt a bit clunky to me.
Also with what Tony says about the 'plan', it doesn't sound that great. I also don't understand the thing with the dog? Hit me up in the comments if you know.
As with last issue the artwork is gorgeous. I really dig the style. The colors are bright and the backgrounds of movie sets and conventions feel like real spaces. It really is nice to look at. I'm looking forward to when the heist is in play and more action oriented panels appear.
The pacing has slowed right down, but honestly I would read this as an ongoing series. I like the characters, even if some of their motivations feel slightly rushed. That's what you get with only four issues I guess.
Score: 2/5
