Review: The Sixth Gun #46

Years ago when issue three or four came out, a giant Thunderbird seemed to be randomly inserted into the story. The Thunderbird was a giant mythical monster who only appeared for a few brief pages. I still thought the story was only a mini-series, not an ongoing. It made me want more of this world so badly. I was loving the story already (and the first arc of this book is still an AMAZING story that could stand alone and remain AMAZING), but that glimpse of other fantastical creatures made me encouraged that there was more to this story. Leaping over 40 issues into the future, we have an issue with a ton of Thunderbirds fighting across the sky. It is a beautiful and awe inspiring sight. A sight that delivers on a promise from all those issues and years ago.

6GUN-46-1I feel that giving a synopsis of this issue wouldn't help anyone. We are 46 into the story, and there's so much story and pay offs here.

But I love this book. It is one of the best fantasy stories that is being published today. Yet so few people are talking about it, because the first issue came out years ago. So let's fix that. The covers may make it look like a western. This is only partially true, it is a fantasy story with western set droppings, and guns instead of swords. Get over the guns, and you are in for a pure fantasy story.

I highly recommend picking up the first trade, when you like it, go pick up the next. Eventually you will get to this issue. The issue where shit is really going down. The heroes are in a giant corner and all hope seems nearly lost for good. There's a lot of great action and story here.

Also, Thunderbirds....
