Review: Toe Tag Riot #4
Toe Tag Riot #4 closes out the series this week and it’s a satisfying conclusion. I’m starting with that because there have been five or six other series that have ended this month and it’s been hit or miss… mostly misses. There isn’t a lot I can say about the issue. Hell not a lot needs to be said about the issue either. It’s been building towards the natural conclusion of having a showdown with Westboro Baptist Church and that’s what occurs. It’s enjoyable and Westboro is painted to be the raving hate-filled lunatics that they are. What else is there to say?
This series has been enjoyable. My only gripe would be that the music side of things kind of faded towards the last few issues and I don’t think they end up playing a song in this issue for more than a few panels. Otherwise it’s a fun story and while it’s going for satire the message of tolerance is present from beginning to end.
The art has been consistent throughout the series and nowadays that’s a big compliment considering how many series struggle with that from issue to issue. The art also nails the landmarks around the Westboro complex (is it called that? That feels right I’m going with it) which was a great touch of realism.
I wish I had more to say about this issue, but the gist is that if you’ve enjoyed the first three issues you’ll enjoy the fourth issue. Nuff said.
Score: 3/5
