Steve Wozniak and Stan Lee Unveil Silicon Valley Comic Con

Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak is no stranger to pop culture. Before inventing the personal computer, the Woz created the technology for color video games. He hosted the US Festival music events in the 1980s, has made numerous TVappearances, including American favorites “Dancing with the Stars” and “The Big Bang Theory,” and has been portrayed on the silver screen in the Steve Jobs biopic films. No other technology icon has touched pop culture and entertainment like the Woz, so it may not be so surprising that he is now bringing Silicon Valley a unique Comic Con experience in March 2016.

“In life, the most important thing is to have fun, and Silicon Valley Comic Con will be the place to experience all your favorite things at one great show,” said Wozniak. “Today, technology is pop culture, in Silicon Valley and around the globe. Entertainment and innovation inspire and bring so much joy to the world, and I’m so excited that we will showcase both at Silicon Valley Comic Con. It’s finally the Age of the Geek, and we’re ready to celebrate!”

Woz called upon his friend Stan Lee, co-creator of Spider-Man, the Hulk, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Thor, the X-Men, and many other fictional characters, to help him bring Silicon Valley its very own Silicon-style Comic Con. “The one thing I want Woz to keep in mind is this: With great power comes great responsibility. I love the idea and can’t wait to see it. Excelsior!” said Lee.

With the Woz at the helm, and with help from his many friends, Silicon Valley Comic Con (SVCC) will unite America’s two greatest superheroes: pop culture and technology. Hosted at the San Jose Convention Center, SVCC will feature Hollywood celebrities and technology leaders from movies, TV, and music, as well as consumer electronics, apps, gaming and emerging innovations. Different genres and artists in comics, cosplay, science fiction, fantasy, anime and more will be in the spotlight, while panels, talks, autograph sessions, photo ops, and many more events will give fans a chance to enjoy special experiences with their favorite celebrities and content.

This weekend, April 18-19, Silicon Valley Comic Con has invited select celebrity guests to join in the countdown to the 2016 event. The countdown kicks off at Big WOW! ComicFest held at the San Jose Convention Center, which is now part of the SVCC family of events. Guests Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy, “Harry Potter” Series), Daniel Cudmore (Master Chief, “HALO” web series; Colossus in the X-Men films; Twilight Saga vampire Volturi guard Felix) and Jake Lloyd (Young Anakin Skywalker, “Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace”) will be on site at Big WOW! for autographs and photo ops. This weekend’s Big WOW! attendees will be able to participate in the countdown celebration with prizes and other fun, including testing their stamina and strength against an evil villain.

Silicon Valley Comic Con will be held the weekend of March 19-20, 2016 at the San Jose Convention Center.
