Worst of 2016: 7th Garden
By Dustin Cabeal
The thing that bugs me the most about 7th Garden is that it makes all these atrocious gardening metaphors that are shoehorned into the middle of the story. This is another series that’s about angels that act more like demons which invalidates labeling them “angels.” Just think of a different fucking name for them, please.
This angel that’s now a demon was awoken by a guy whose last name is “Gardener” and who’s profession is that of a gardener. He’s also good with a sword or some shit. He’s kinda tricked into a pact with a demon to save people and blah, blah, blah, the creator changed their mind midway through, and now his entire life has been manipulated into being the wielder of the demon… like a gardening tool. I’m not goofing and making this shit up; this is coming straight out of the book. It’s a shit story. The premise is too complex for what it’s trying to accomplish, and the demon is a softy making the title of “demon” just as useless as “angel.” Pass on this in a big way.
