Worst of 2016: Revolution
By Dustin Cabeal
I wish I knew the logic behind this one because I just don’t see it. While I don’t like IDW’s system, I can’t deny that it works. I can’t deny that for some reason people love their licensed brands. I don’t. I’ve never hidden that. I think they're kind of terrible. With that said, for the life of me I don’t know why they’d ruin a good thing and smash all of Hasbro’s brands together.
The result was Revolution which is possibly the worst crossover I’ve read in the past ten years. It was painfully bad and had an old-school setup in which the good guys all seem to think the other good guys are bad guys… so they gotta fight… until someone with an adult level of IQ steps in and says, “hey… why don’t we just talk for like five minutes and see if this all jives before we start blowing shit up.” Possibly the worst idea that IDW has had, and that’s saying something since the “I” in their name stands for “Idea.”
