Worst of 2016: X-Men: Apocalypse

By Dustin Cabeal

I will keep this short because I find that every time I think of this movie I find more things to dislike about it. If you want more, you can always read my review for it here. You’d think that Bryan Singer could tell a competent X-Men story by now, but here on his fourth film… he still sucks at it. He doesn’t understand what makes the X-Men interesting and due to the casting from First Class were left with mostly Magneto stories. Frankly, fuck Michael Fassbender. He’s overrated and brings nothing to the role of Magneto. He’s a crybaby at best, and this movie attempts to forgive all the death he caused in the previous film and all the death he caused in this film by saying, “well he helped stop Apocalypse.” Yeah, that’s not how that works. You can’t kill innocent people, then kill a guy that would kill more people than you and all be forgiven.

In short, this is the last Singer movie I will ever watch, and I desperately hope that they’ll reboot this franchise yet again. Especially since Singer just brought it all back to the crap, he was doing before he left to tank Superman for a decade. Maybe Fox will get a director that understands what makes the X-Men tick. I’d lay it out for them, but that would be a much longer article, and this article is about a shitty movie that was one of the worst of the year and definitely the worst of the X-Men franchise. Hell, Generation X is a better movie, and it was made for TV… in the 90s.
