Review: Adventure Time #26
Okay if you haven’t read any of the Adventure Time comics, this one is a must read. Even if you don’t know who Finn and Jake are, it’s okay, still read this one; it is hands down my new favorite issue of this arc. So even though we are more than half ways through the arc, you don’t have to be following issue by issue to be able to start off right here with issue #26. The issue starts off with BMO talking to him/herself about a crazy weird dream that probably would be considered a twisted nightmare for most but BMO, being easily amused is so excited to tell Finn and Jake. That’s when BMO finds that Finn and Jake are missing!
The two are off unlocking secrets in a mysterious dungeon; well it’s actually an abandoned military factory but still provides excellent adventuring nonetheless. Most of their adventure consists of having an existential crisis which leads them to a magical machine that will turn them into “body-free ghosts.” If you are thinking what I’m thinking, it sounds more like a death machine.
Just when I thought this arc was running out of momentum, Ryan North drops this on us. I mean is this the end for our heroes? I don’t think my heart could take it. Don’t do this to me, North! Don’t do this to the fandom. Maybe Princess Bubblegum will science it up and get Finn and Jake’s bodies back. Yeah, something will work. Right?!
The variant covers for this issue are definitely print worthy. Adventure Time has always impressed me with their covers and the different takes on our characters. Also Jim Rugg, the illustrator for this issue, did an especially good job on the scenes depicting what the characters were up to in their spare time.
Featured in this issue was a little story by James the Stanton. I think it was a pretty cute way to end the issue. I love that each issue does this. I think it shows a connection with the fans. So overall, I am pleased with this issue.
