Review: Army of Darkness: Ash Gets Hitched #4

If Ash can get past the Faceless One, he can settle down, get married, and raise their child in the medieval times.  One problem keeps that all from happening: the Faceless One punches harder than young Mike Tyson.  The bruised and bloodied Ash doesn’t stand a chance, especially when his sword, shotgun, and chainsaw have all been destroyed by the might of the biggest, nastiest Deadite ever to emerge from the power of the Book of the Dead. AshHitched04-Cov-LeeOnce again Nacho Tenorio delivers a well-illustrated story full of gobs of blood, chainsaw arms, and evil dead creatures.  His work on this series has been solid and consistent, and the conclusion to this arc will feel saturated with all the fluids wrung from the two combatants as they tussle.

Steve Niles drops the humor down a notch for this battle.  As Ash and The Faceless One square off, the tone shifts to sheer pugilistic mayhem.  Best of all, the ending does satisfy while keeping the storyline true to the nature of the anti-hero chronologically displaced from his home.

This four-issue series has been a refreshingly improved story over the stories of the on-going series.  I just can’t figure out why this wasn’t lumped into the normal ordering of the ongoing comic.  Besides that, this was a hell of a fun four-part adventure for Ash and for the readers.
