Review: Bushido #2 (of 5)

Kichiro deals with the aftermath of issue #1, namely the death of his father at the hands of some vampires.  His brother, Orochi, thinks that Kichiro is to blame, too.  Mitsuko, daughter of the Shogun, has the hots for Kichiro—but she’s all set to marry Orochi. Cue an all-out vampire onslaught and you have the making of a great comic.

I mentioned in the review of issue one that the artwork makes the book a must read.  The quality has not waned with issue two.  Not one bit.  The images of Kichiro fighting a vampire as buildings burn, the moonlight hunt of the undead, and the wedding celebration have to be savored.  Jessada Sutthi has made some amazing visuals to accompany Rob Levin’s finely crafted tale of vampires in feudal Japan.

This is one book that needs to be read, admired, reread, and thought about.  It looks and reads beautifully.
