Edward Scissorhands #2 continues right where we left off. Megs is snooping, Edward is lonely, and Eli has blood on his claws. Eli the failed experiment has run away, and is making a mess of things, but so far it’s all unintentional. He’s observing humans and attempting to imitate; the claws make it a bit difficult. It seems he is just wandering for the moment, learning and adapting as best he can. Where will he end up? And how much chaos will he leave behind? The inventor’s notes suggest Eli is “hostile,” though so far he’s seemed unintentionally so. Still, I imagine Eli will manage to do some damage before he’s done.

Meanwhile, Megs is unable to convince her mother to talk about Edward or her grandmother, so she continues to search for answers on her own. She ends up at the spooky mansion, and comes face to face with Edward Scissorhands himself. It’s what Grandma would want, isn’t it?

Eli’s adventures are concerning yet entertaining; despite the warning that he is a hostile creature, and despite where we left him last issue, Eli has yet to feel threatening. If Eli is to be the big threat of the comic, we don’t have too much to worry about. So far, it seems he just wants to learn what it means to be human.

Eli was the focus in this issue, so I expect that means Megs will be the focus next issue. She’s just come face to face with Edward, and this is the first human interaction Edward’s had in decades. It’s clear he’s lonely, Megs is curious, and it’s a perfect match.

Overall, this issue wasn’t particularly exciting, but it was necessary to lead us readers right to the action, which will pick up in #3. We’re still building the story, and #2 has done just enough to keep us interested in what comes next.
