How could you not buy Headspace based off of that cover? You can’t! But with all the awesomeness of the front cover going on, I still think the back cover brings up more questions. We know Shane and other people are stuck in Max’s mind, so the front cover makes sense. But on the back we see Shane with an octopus’s tentacle jabbed through Shane's brain. Now I am intrigued. Somehow Shane will face an octopus and either 1. metaphorically have his brain removed or literally. I am just excited about the whole thing, but I am getting ahead of myself. Let’s first talk about this issue.
So Shane is still with that old man, who I would say control’s Max the most and also knows the most of this foreign land. They are travelling through different memories all held by Max. Each memory is step up in a room, so picture a giant mansion of memories. It is pretty cool to see it all unfold, but only makes me want to step through every door to explore the mind further. I think Shane has a little bit of this curiosity in him as well. But he carefully picks and chooses the room based on some sort of connection with that memory.
Then we follow Max around a bit. Right away, I want to say that I think Headspace is a complex story that you may have to reread in order to fully understand what is going on. Although I think we are supposed to be a tad lost, I still think a reread is a good idea. You can’t just jump into this series, but with issue #5, it sparks interest, so it wouldn’t be a bad place to start and then backtrack. Anyway, Max, from what we know, is a secret agent. He has been trained to the best of his ability, but training someone so well has its risks. Max is trained killer, so technically he is a murder. He has escaped the old man’s control and is going rogue.
This is where the problem lies; no one can find him. Again, we go back and forth with the story, but by far I find Shane’s story the most interesting. Sometimes I wish we would inside of his head. I am sure you can guys what memory Shane stumbles upon, and without a doubt will spark some emotion in the readers. It is about time that Shane finds Max.
