Review: Intersect #1
Ray Fawkes brings us a new ongoing series called Intersect. Now what I do know about Fawkes is that he is dark. He creates such a horror that will haunt any reader. Immediately after this comic, I noticed right away that Fawkes knows something about horror. Let me explain. I think some people and a lot of young people hear that word horror and think about blood and gore, but horror isn’t that too me. Horror creeps into the mind and grabs on, as hard as you try to shake the image or idea, you can’t. So you try to suppress the memory but can’t. It haunts you, but the reader creates the gore within the story. Fawkes does exactly that. I am truly confused and utterly scared after reading this comic. I want nothing to do with this world, and yet I need to come back. We met a group of people, but to say they are group wouldn’t make much sense. I am not lying when I say that this comic is confusing, so some of these things I am saying about the plot could very well be wrong. But I also think that Fawkes wants us to go through this in order to fully encompass this comic and all it will have to offer. So anyway, I say that this group is more of a unit. They interlock with each other to form one flowing unit. It seems like they almost take over one body and when one gets hurt another takes over and so on. I am not sure about their goal, but like any story, I think they seek answers. I also think that someone named Lucky is trying to stop them from finding these answers. So the unit is trying run from their foe. Kid gets hurt in the process, hence why I think the others step in physically when someone is hurt or probably even tired. It sounds complicated, but the comic is oddly addictive. The story effortlessly flows even though it isn’t clear. I am intrigued enough to see how it all unfolds.
What really stands out about this comic is the art. It very much reads like a watercolor. At first, it is hard to get used to, but then you quickly understand that Fawkes what the art to be as complex as the story. The colors are very pastel but somehow gives off this dark creepy feeling. I love it. The mood falls right into the art.
Intersect is like nothing out there. If you are looking for something different that will take you to a world you haven’t seen, I think Image has your answer. Fawkes has a lot in store for this story, so jump on this comic for pure fascination.
