Review: Regular Show #4

Written by Guest Contributor: Jordan North Cartoon based comics are a strange indulgence. They’re for some reason harder to separate from their source material when read, even if I could write a list all day on how cartoons and comics are different. It’s just hard two judge them as two different things from a review standpoint with the winner always being the original. But! On a rare day a comic-toon can stand apart, this is how, as done by this masterful KaBoom creative team.

The art: Artist Allison Strejlau gives Regular Show an “ almost the same but not quite” coat of paint that makes things feel ever so slightly different. The demonic (or whatever) barber felt strait out of Power Puff Girls.

RegularShow_04_preview_Page_1Humor: Comics allow material to be handled a little more loosely letting writer KC Green branch out and let strange or older-person jokes fly that maybe the TV series would shrink from.

The “After-story Story”: Rachel Connor and Josceline Fenton pulls out all the stops giving fans the experimental takes on material that they crave.

These things added together Regular Show is a comic adaptation that’s worth picking up and a good alternative to the also-good original TV series.
