Review: Robyn Hood #6

Robyn Hood starts out way different from anything we have ever seen; Marian narrates this issue. I always said that I love this chick and wanted to see more of her story with Robyn’s. Although I did miss Robyn’s sarcastic attitude. Marian doesn’t even come close to giving us as much spice as Robyn does. But all in all, I loved the changed that Pat Shand gave us and feel like he is listening to his readers. So the story revolves mostly around Marian. She is trying to hone in on her magic skills. She explains how her magic is so fluid in Myst, but Earth comes with many problems. I can’t stop raving about how cool Marian is, and how smart Shand was to give Robyn a sidekick. Marian, looking punk, is very sweet though. She is the sensitive one in the relationship. While Robyn, looking not as punk, is the punk. My only hope is that these two can realize how perfect they are for each other. If Shand can give them some sort of real relationship and do it in a not so overly sexually way, than I really am excited to see where this goes. They are just so cute together, I couldn’t see any reader not feeling the tension between these two. Robyn has got a lot to deal with though before they can jump in together.

RH_Ongoing_06_Cover ARobyn has to deal with less action this week but more of an internal struggle. Losing Will has had a huge impact on her and ever since Brittany suggested she go see a doctor, it has been clear that Robyn does need some help. Again, I give props to Shand for making Robyn have all these different dimension. It would be easy to make her a badass and never veer from that, but Shand does which makes for way better reading.

Anyway, Marian decides to go see a witch from Myst to see what the heck is wrong with her magic. She can barely do anything even after training. The reveal of what is really happening makes me happy...even though it is sad news. I will give you hint; we see a character that isn’t too us. So once you read the issue, you will be pretty stoked to see this as well.

With a new story arc coming next month, Robyn Hood is giving the readers everything we want to see. The plot is progressing so well, and Marian is fitting into the mix perfectly. I couldn’t be more thrilled for this creative team. And yes I love Jaime Salangsang Jr.’s art, but seeing the new artist for the next arc got me excited too. Roberta Ingranata gives Robyn more of a Hawkeye look. It looks awesome and will fit this new story perfectly.
