Review: Star Wars: Legacy #15
It’s the end of an arc, but far from the end. I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve reviewed this book. It hasn’t been that long, considering that I reviewed it last month, but in comic book years, that’s a long time. I’ve never been a big fan of monthly books. I think that everything should be bi-weekly. Of course, I couldn’t afford that, but I could always refinance my car payment or something. Just kidding, folks… kinda. Anyway, I’m glad that it’s that time again. Legacy has surpassed every other Star Wars book on the shelves. It was a really close tie with Wood’s Star Wars, but the line has been crossed. The characters in this series are just so much more unique and entertaining to watch. I’m a huge fan of the classic characters, but I’m sold on this. Star Wars: Legacy reigns supreme in the house that Dark Horse built.
Ania has finally escaped the clutches of the bounty hunter with no face. Unfortunately, she is finally on her way to answer for her “crimes”. The twists and turns in this issue will keep you on your toes. You better pay attention or you might miss something. Plus, a shocking ending that has definitely earned that word -- in the adjective sense -- because it’s going to shock you -- in the verb sense.
The script was short and sweet. There isn’t a whole lot of dialogue in here. But that’s a good thing because it was primarily an issue filled with action. So, people doing, rather than talking. I touched on this briefly in the intro, but the characters are so interesting that it makes it hard not to enjoy their interactions with each other. I love dialogue, probably more than I love art, but Bechko and Hardman really know how not to fill an issue with fluff. If I’m tired by the end, and somehow don’t understand what’s going on, it’s just too wordy. This was a really well written script.
And of course the art was tremendous. Every time that I read an issue of this book I have to keep myself on track, and not get distracted by Hardman’s mesmerizing work. I can’t imagine a book that wouldn’t benefit from his touch. I’ve said this before, but I am convinced that he was meant to draw in the Star Wars universe. Truly amazing stuff.
So there you have it, folks. Try and guess how I’ve scored Star Wars: Legacy this month. It was an awesome end to an awesome arc, and I can’t wait to see what’s next. It looks like it’s going to be awesome. Whatever this creative team has in store for us, I’m sure it will deliver. Until next time.
