Review: The Li’l Depressed Boy Vol. 2 #2
Drew, Spike, LDB, and a few others relax after Drew’s show and discuss books. After the great evening that was almost ruined by Jazz’s presence, everything comes to a great conclusion. However, this is The Li’L Depressed Boy, so things don’t go on without a snag. After making the decision to consult the manager, Carl, LDB brings about the issue with Toby. After reviewing the surveillance video, LDB is shocked by what he sees. Or what he doesn’t see, to be more accurate.
Carl refuses to pursue any further investigations. In a fit, LDB heads home and considers ending his job at the movie theater.
Not much more can be said for this book other than it’s a compelling read. While no great cataclysms arise, the plight of LDB every month carries through so well that I never need to read back issues to remember previous events. Simple, believable drama drives forth an association between readers and characters.
And sometimes that’s all one needs—a well produced comic that provides a break from the monotony of all the other formulaic comic book series.
