Abbott and Costello Meet the Monsters Launches Three New Comics on Kickstarter
Monstrous has launched a Kickstarter campaign for Abbott and Costello Meet the Monsters, a three-comic series written by James Aquilone. The publisher describes it as the comedy duo’s first new comics in more than 50 years.
The first issue, Abbott and Costello Meet the Night Stalker, sends Bud and Lou into the world of Kolchak. Dave Acosta illustrates the story, with covers by J.K. Woodward and Zac Atkinson.
Abbott and Costello Meet the Morlocks follows in issue #2, bringing the duo face to face with the creatures from H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine. George Quadros supplies the interior art, with covers by Russ Braun and Colton Worley.
The third issue takes the pair into cosmic horror in Abbott and Costello Meet Cthulhu. The announcement credits Zac Atkinson with interior art and Robert Hack and E.V. Cantada with covers. Each comic will also include Abbott and Costello comic strips.
The campaign offers variant covers and merchandise including T-shirts, trading cards and original artwork. The characters were licensed through Unforgettable Enterprises Inc. The project builds on the duo’s monster-comedy legacy, including 1948’s Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein.
Five supplied covers and a preview page accompany this announcement. The campaign is available at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/monstrousverse/abbott-and-costello-meet-the-monsters
