If you enjoy Ultraman or even love Ultraman, then you should be reading this manga. It’s not quite a reboot, but in a way, it is. It picks up after Ultraman has left the earth and giant aliens have become nothing more than stories you tell your kids about. Except… there’s still aliens, and the earth needs a new Ultraman. Currently… there’s three. The heir to the role is Ultraman’s kid, and he’s got the juice, but two others feel they’re better suited for the role.
This story is so much more than just fighting big monsters. In fact, there haven’t been any big monster fights which is why it works. It’s kept to the ground level, and even Ultraman’s public appearances have been kept in the shadows as much as possible. The story is fantastic, and the co-creators work amazingly well together both on the story and the visuals. Again, if you’re an Ultraman fan, then you should already be reading this one.
