DINK Announces Hernandez Brothers

Press Release

In recognition of the importance of diversity in art, DINK (The Denver Independent Comic & Art Expo) is thrilled to announce guests of honor, the Hernandez Bros. The two-day appearance will celebrate the 35th anniversary of their epic and independent series, 'Love and Rockets' and will also mark the first appearance for the Latino comic book creators together in the Queen City.

Featuring a diverse roster of talent, DINK hits a timely home run with the announcement of the Hernandez Brothers at the 2017 expo. Centered around Latino characters, their groundbreaking 'Love and Rockets' is noted for expressing ideas around race, religion, gender, social status and sexuality in culture at a time when it was politically incorrect. The thirty-five-year-old independent publication has received accolades in both mainstream and alternative media alike, all the while building a rabid following of fans and supporters.

Celebrated as a cult favorite, 'Love and Rockets' was dubbed "the greatest non-superhero graphic novel of all time" by Rolling Stone. A rare treat for comic enthusiasts spanning nearly three generations of fans, attendees will have an opportunity to meet all three of the creators in a single setting from April 8-9 at DINK (Denver Independent Comic Expo).

With a full roster of local, national and international exhibitors, publishers, and special guest artists, DINK is poised to bring more than just great art to the Mile High City. Additional special guests include the return of underground comix legend, Denis Kitchen, New York art darling, Aidan Koch, and award-winning and local favorite Noah Van Sciver, Amy Reeder and Zach Howard among others.
