Green Lantern: Doomed Cosmos Reimagines Hal Jordan in a Six-Issue Elseworlds War
DC has announced Green Lantern: Doomed Cosmos, a six-issue Elseworlds series written by Dan Watters and illustrated by Kyle Hotz. The first issue arrives January 20, 2027, with colors by Dan Brown and letters by Steve Wands.
In this alternate universe, the Empire of Humanity has spent centuries conquering worlds. The militarized Green Lantern Corps stands against it, and Hal Jordan becomes the Corps’ only human warrior after his former battle-brother Oliver Queen betrays him and leaves him for dead.
Rescued by the Corps, Hal turns against the empire he once served. The series follows his journey through a war-torn version of the DC Universe, reworking familiar characters and alliances around a cosmic conflict.
Hotz says he is balancing expansive space opera with the story’s emotional moments. His approach draws on war films to depict Lanterns whose armor and equipment show the toll of a long fight.
Green Lantern: Doomed Cosmos #1 features a main cover by Hotz and variants by Björn Barends, Steve Beach and Ashley Wood, plus a Barends foil variant. The 32-page issue is $4.99, with card stock variants at $5.99 and the foil variant at $7.99. Supplied covers and preview art by Hotz and Brown appear here.
