Fuck yeah, I am so stoked to have stolen the reigns for the Chew reviews. Chew is quite possibly my favorite ongoing series right now. The arcs are well established runs of five. Each arc is self-contained but also plays into the overall story for the series (of which they say is only going to be 60 issues *sad-face). The arcs are perfectly paced and give character and world development.
After last issues jaw-dropping (literally, my jaw dropped if yours didn't you're dead inside) moment, we get to see how Poyo tackles the after-life. It's awesome and packed with typical Chew humor.
Tony is working with D-bear because he flat-out refuses to work with Colby now. Their first case is cool and involves two new food-related powers. I love how D-bear's golden D falls on the FDA on his shirt.
This issue left me thinking that one thing was going to happen and then literally throws it in the trash at the end. Fans of this series may not be happy with that. I was happy with Colby's initial plan but to throw it in the garbage is just awful.
Score: 3/5 (In terms of the series, 4/5 in terms of all comics)
