I'm a big fan of comic books and a fan of online gambling, and it comes as no surprise that there are many heroes and villains throughout the comic book industry who gamble. Even superheroes need an outlet from time to time! If you play online progressive games at Vegas Palms, you can even find some hero and villain themed games, such as Thunderstruck II, which features the Norse Gods.
You probably know quite a few of these characters, who are also portrayed in movies based on comics. The Joker from Batman is one of the most famous of these gambling villains. Named after the most intriguing playing card, his gambling prowess gives him that edge he needs as a criminal mastermind to come up with hundreds of schemes that take a gamble with elaborate armed robberies and ways to defeat Batman. He would be formidable at any blackjack table!
Second to the Joker in Batman comics is Harvey Dent, who has also featured in both comics and the big screen in Batman movies. You may know him as Two-Face, for his split personality and most of all his need to flip a coin before making any decisions. You see, he believes in a 50/50 chance in everything, and with each toss of his coin he is gambling between both sides of his nature. He's a really intriguing character.
Another favorite of mine is Gambit from the X-Men. His character is a bit on the ambiguous side where you aren't sure if he wants to be a hero or a villain. Having been a professional thief, you can find his character haunting many back bar gambling tables. He is also a master card thrower who uses his cards as projectile weapons. I'd love to see his character as a theme in one of the many Vegas Palms casino slot games.
The aptly named The Gambler is a favorite villain from the Green Lantern comics and is a really big fan of casino games. He comes from a long line of compulsive gamblers in his family and took on the nickname to honor those who came before him. He carried a deck of sharp edged cards and just couldn't resist joining in on a card game.
If you're a Watchmen fan you'll remember the billionaire genius Adrian Veidt, aka Ozymandius, who switched between being a hero and villain. Amongst his many talents is gambling due to his photogenic memory and his skills in using a card counting system, so he can anticipate what cards will soon fall into his hands.
It's not fair to let all the guys get a mention without mentioning our female super villainess, Roulette from the DC Comic world. Acting as Veronica Sinclair by day, she owns and runs her own casino, and is a professional gambler in her own right. Her casino holds a dark secret though, and that is an illegal arena where any superheroes that are captured are thrown into the ring to fight each other, with spectators placing bets on the outcomes. Roulette is a genius with a gift for calculating odds and gambling the winnings.
There are many more heroes and villains out there who have an interest in gambling, and some who would probably be great in the casino of they put their gifts to the test. Can you imagine the winnings that someone like Magneto from the X-Men could have, especially at the roulette table where he could manipulate the ball? Or the Invisible Woman, who could use her invisibility to peek at her opponents cards. The ideas are endless!
