I feel sorry for Patrick. He’s a huge fan of Rom, and he had high hopes for this series. He fell for the oldest trick in IDW’s book… the first issue. Seriously, though, he wrote this great article on Rom, and you can understand why people like Rom… or at least the idea and journey of Rom.

Because in execution, you get exactly what IDW did… a terrible mess. Even worse, they took the underdeveloped series and made it the central plot point of their brand meshing shared universe. Why anyone thought it was a good idea to derail a new series is beyond me, but I guess the variants kept it afloat… like the rest of IDW’s lineup. If you were excited about Rom’s return, just don’t be. Leave him in the past where he belongs.
