Review: The Blood Queen #3

BloodQueen-03-Cov-GarzaWinnifred visits Elizabeth and tells the story of how the blood magic became banned.  That tale includes an elder council and a fellow called the Knight of Purity who would hunt witches with his enchanted weapons and royal blood.  After the story gets told, Winnifred asks Elizabeth to keep an eye on the king and all the matters of court.  She does via eavesdropping, and Jon Hunter catches her doing so.  We close with a shadowy figure conspiring to kill King Trevian. Issue 3, told passively through flashbacks, features very little action.  Readers get a story told to us and then some conspiring.  I wish I could say more but the comic gives readers nothing more to work with other than a very weakly written issue.  I also had to stare for a minute at the panel depicting Elizabeth kissing Jon Hunter to figure out what the hell I was looking at.

For what had so far been an intriguing series, this issue makes a great misstep.
