Magnetic Press made a big splash last year with books like Doomboy, Meka, Zaya, Naja and VOX... just to name a few. The start of 2015 has been a bit quite, but after relocating to Chicago they're getting ready for C2E2 this weekend! Here's somethings they have going on:
Now that we're somewhat settled into new digs, we're gearing up for OUR FIRST BIG CONVENTION OF THE YEAR -- C2E2, right here in hometown Chicago next weekend, April 24th-26th at McCormick Place! We'll be showing and selling our full library of awesome books at booth #742 (which I understand is facing the LIVE Stage, where all sorts of awesome guests and events will be livestreamed all weekend long)! We will have copies of all of our best sellers, including our newest releases: Tom DeLonge's POET ANDERSON #1, Matteo De Longis's VOX, LOVE: THE TIGER, Evertold's DAOMU, and Ryan Schifrin's THE ADVENTURES OF BASIL AND MOEBIUS vol.1!But that's not all -- we're also hosting our FIRST EVER PUBLIC PANEL at 11:15am, Friday 24th, in room S204! We're excited to open the show with a peek at our latest and upcoming titles, with Wasted Lands artist/creator Dave Dorman and author Austin Wilson to discuss his upcoming graphic novel RE-PRO-DUCT. Plus, we will also feature free screenings of both the award-winning POET ANDERSON animated short film and the live action BASIL AND MOEBIUS short, "NO REST FOR THE WICKED", starring Zachary Levi ("Chuck"), Ray Park ("Star Wars", "GI Joe"), and Malcolm McDowell ("A Clockwork Orange")!!!
This awesome short film has made the festival circuits, racking up awards left and right, and we are proud to not only show it during our panel, but hosting it for it's WORLD PREMIERE ONLINE! That's right, if you're unable to make it to the show, visit www.magnetic-press.com/BasilandMoebius on Friday April 24th for the world premiere! It's an action-packed 16 minutes filled with thieving scoundrels, zombie hitmen, and a kung-fu monkey (played by Crystal the Monkey, you know, from "The Hangover"...?) It is a blast guaranteed to please!
Want more info on The Adventures of Basil and Moebius? We've got you covered:
Not only can you catch the World Preimere of the BASIL AND MOEBIUS short film this weekend, you can also pick up Volume One of the original graphic novel series “THE ADVENTURES OF BASIL AND MOEBIUS” in comic shops everywhere this Wednesday, April 22nd!
Created by award-winning writer/director Ryan Schifrin, who was dubbed the “Future of Horror” by ABC’s Nightline following the release of his independent film “Abominable,” which ranked as the SyFy Channel’s #1 rated show the week of its debut. And this is just the first of four quarterly hardcover graphic novels and digital short stories planned for the year!
Produced by Schifrin’s Red Circle Productions, the series chronicles the pulp-style adventures of Basil Fox and Alaric Moebius, two scoundrel thieves who find themselves caught up in the machinations of “The Collector,” a mysterious patron who recruits them (not often willingly) to find rare and rumored artifacts that may or may not have fabled supernatural powers. Created by Ryan Schifrin, the series is adapted and co-written by legendary comic writer Larry Hama (G.I. Joe, Wolverine, The ‘Nam), and illustrated by a collection of established and up-and-coming artists, sandwiched inside a cover painted by the amazing Dave Dorman!
Also debuting online this Wednesday is the digital short story "OF BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS," written by award-winning fan-favorite sci-fi/adventure author TIMOTHY ZAHN (Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy, The Cobra Series, etc)! This will be the first of nearly a dozen digital prose shorts released monthly between graphic novel releases, with upcoming stories written by some of sci-fi’s most recognized and respected award-winning authors including Richard Lee Byers(Forgotten Realms), and Greg Bear (Blood Music, Halo). Oh, and Timothy Zahn also provides the foreword in the first graphic novel volume! The digital short stories will be available through Amazon's Kindle store, which you can access from, well, pretty much any kind of device.
