Review: Interviews With Monster Girls E.03

And there it is. This show is well done, but at the end of the day, it’s ecchi or harem or whatever fucking classification you want to use. The teacher is collecting love interests and this episode it’s the Succubus.
What’s fantastic about this episode is that the Succubus narrates the entire episode as it follows her lonely existence. She lives in the woods by herself, far away from people. She can’t sleep on the train because she invades people’s dreams. She forces herself to get up early to avoid as many people as possible on the train and stays late for the same reason. Her life sucks.
But when the teacher helps her when she falls and doesn’t pop wood instantly, she thinks she’s in love. Too bad we know that he just has the willpower of a god and freaked out around the corner out of her eye line.
That’s pretty much the entire episode. He re-interviews the vampire and romance come up again. She kisses him, and he acts stoic once more, but you can see that not one, but three characters like him and it’s honestly a little creepy given the fact that he’s a teacher and three of them are students.
I love the animation, though. It’s so great. There’s just something about the visuals that keep it from being creepy. Maybe it’s the fact that it never goes for the super cute designs or the comedic illustrations and keeps it realistic all of the time.
The voice acting is by far some of the best of the season. The range of actors they cast is great because it keeps the character’s archetypes from being instantly recognizable. I hate when you can tell which character is which just by who’s voicing them. It’s subtle and realistic which is refreshing in anime.
It was bound to happen that this would be a harem comedy in the end, but at the very least it’s enjoyable and not as creepy as it could be. He’s a ladykiller, good guy that all the ladies want and all the men want to be… or something. It’s a good show, and it's worth checking out even if I’m way too old for something so creepy.
Score: 4/5
