If he wasn’t kicking down avocado trees, he was smiling and taking giant fucking bat-crowbars off his back. What a year to be reading Batman huh? He went from having endless knowledge and finding out there were three Jokers to being the fourth Joker.
Seriously, Batman, Detective Comics, All-Star Batman, Batman/TMNT, Batman TMNT Adventures, Batman 66, Batman 66 plus the Avengers but we can’t call them that, all of it was just hot trash. Rebirth did a lot of characters favors, but Batman wasn’t one of them. I almost took the time to list all of these titles individually, but unlike the writers on these titles I can only spin shit so many ways.
The worst part? Out of all those titles, I listed, the three core titles that matter had no fucking consistency to the characterization of Batman. Sure, there’s different writer’s, but unless you’re saying the individual titles don’t matter to the whole, then Batman should at least seem like the same fucking dude in each series. Instead he was actually kind of a douchebag. 2016 is the year that truly broke the Bat, at least for me it did. I’ve unfortunately added him to my list of “do not bother with” right under Spider-Man.
